El Sobao

Since we have settled back in Cantabria a couple of years ago, I am inviting everyone to stop by my house, I will wait for you with a sobao or a quesada. I remain convinced that we are one coffee away from another person to collaborate together, and I continue to practice the theory of tinto (tinto means coffee in colombia). I add the typical sobao of the Pasiegos Valleys where we have settled, to adapt it to our new reality, and promote the products of the land.

I realize that I am dedicating a lot of time to this topic and I am glad. In the end, I make connections or share contacts by email, an invisible network of people gets to know each other, things happen and I find out about some of them as time goes by. These days two people informed me that they found work thanks to our job board of The Social MBA program, I also received a photo of others who met.

When I raise my hand to ask for help I feel like the answer comes very quickly. Like yesterday to learn first-hand about the experience of financing a project with Fiare, on the same day I received a response with a great level of detail. I also trust that when I share opportunities to help the community, they are heard. We are not asking for money for Hola Ghana on a regular basis, I am rather contributing to different campaigns, emergency requests or support for some people who reach out to me.

I love knowing that I am not the only one, that there are many people who practice acts of generosity or even radical generosity, of living from abundance, and sharing not what they have left over, but what they may need, trusting in the life. Having been born in Europe and lived with all kinds of privileges, this is a way to reciprocate, to live gratefully, to give back, to generate other forms of capital, to break with great inequality.

The truth is that we are talking about donations or small projects, which may seem like their importance for the world is small, but nothing could be further from the truth, because bridging the distance between two unknown people is a great rebellion. Being able to connect with a person who is going through a moment of great need, and walk that brick that separates us, is a human experience, in fact, the only experience that saves us.

In a world that is falling apart, in a life that little by little is ending, as the months, days, and years go by, we have less strength left and we will turn into dust again to return to earth, dedicate a part of your time, your resources or your energy in helping a person or a family means transcending this life, filling it with meaning, hacking the established system of violence and fear.

So I encourage you, if I’m talking to you, I encourage you to perform radical acts of generosity, I encourage you to take out your wallet, I encourage you to put on your apron, I encourage you to go to a hospital, I encourage you to take care of a family member, I encourage you. I encourage you to forgive, I encourage you to help a neighbor, I share with you some ideas that have helped me: Fondredess, 1000x100 Amica, or hundreds of impact initiatives, where you can find one that catches your attention, that connects with the deepest part of yourself. your heart.

And you… Do you perform acts of radical generosity in your daily life?
