New Year

Christmas is over, the activity has begun, a few weeks of rest have been good for us. After the “king cake” we have a new year ahead of us. We have already started, we have had a meeting to define priorities, we have welcomed two new people to the coliving, we have reestablished contact with collaborators and friends, we also received the first commercial calls from unknown phone numbers, so it seems that the year has begun and we are on board.

I start the year reading authors such as Yuval Noah Harari or Facundo Cabral, enjoying meditation, the frost that leaves the white fields and numerous spectacular sunrises that leave no one indifferent. I start to design new projects with paper and pen, I let my imagination fly, I am guided by intuition, I see clearly the next step and how we are going to prototype it.

… I was thinking that this could be the beginning of a new community, above all reconciled with the world around us, the essential way I have always lived, and that is why I lived a full life, that is to say naturally rich, because I dared to embrace the diversity of existence, which is so exciting and enriching, the world, which is the true country we inhabit because Humanity is one family because one is the Father. Facundo Cabral

I have also reviewed the calendar, I have set the next trips of the year, including the wishes that I want to fulfill, such as attending the Purmamarca meeting with my friend Pedro Tarak or visiting Devon to meet Satish Kumar. It is important for me to begin to sketch out a blueprint for the year, to be able to accept or not the following commitments, to give priority to these plans that are born from reflection and I do not want them to cross with something and cancel them because I did not have them scheduled.

I have set new goals for the year, focused on opening the school in Ghana in September, buying the land next to the school that we have been unable to do these months, also consolidating our space in Cantabria with a 100% Coliving model and creating a new training program with our business school. I am going to dedicate the next few months to this, of course I review and adapt each quarter, new opportunities will appear but I am going to focus my attention to fulfill the script and be able to achieve them. This is linked to my purpose of raising awareness and developing agents of change, along with my vocation as a connector, so I will be available and dedicating time to having coffee and accompanying people in moments of transition or undertaking.

We are born to meet (life is the art of meeting), to meet to confirm that humanity is one family and that we inhabit one country called earth. Facundo Cabral

Although it is not expressly defined in the objectives, I take for granted the dedication of time every week to take care of the new space and to do maintenance and gardening work. In the next few days I have to take leaves to the recycling center and paint the new window that they have installed in the coworking space, buy sawdust and feed for the chickens, and order new chickens for the small farm. Yesterday we had a delicious broccoli soup for dinner, we are enjoying and giving away nuts and we cannot keep up with the egg production between our house and the chickens in the space. I enjoy doing jobs that involve getting our hands dirty, physical work like mowing or collecting leaves. I think that its effect is therapeutic, it is something very necessary and I notice it when I don’t do it.

On top of all this, we have a daughter, and like everything in life, where you put your attention, you put your heart. We are clear about this priority and we organize ourselves to share with her every day. On most occasions she accompanies us in what we do and other times we take turns to participate in some activities or stay with Lucía making other plans. I think the experience of connecting with nature and contact with foreign people is very positive. Sometimes I hear her speak broken English and I am surprised at how she manages to make herself understood. We combine all this with taking care of my father-in-law, who has also lived with us for years and needs attention and care. In the mornings he goes to a day centre, and that allows us to work until after lunch when he returns home.

And you… Have you already planned how you want your new year to be?
