The Recording

This week, we are lucky to have two experts from the world of sustainable fashion join us at PAS Rural Coliving to record content for a European program we are participating in, in collaboration with the largest adult university in Slovenia and designer Maja Ferme, who is very well known in the country and has just launched her first collection in this direction.

I met Salva Cayuela last year at a wonderful gathering organized in Bagà, a small village in the Catalan Pyrenees. About 50 people arrived, all of us who felt the calling, knowing that there was no agenda, flyers, website, or invitations, not knowing the other participants or what might happen that weekend, and it turned out to be amazing. It turned out that Salva was the local reference person; he has a house in the village and helped us organize the meals and dinners. Conversation circles emerged on different topics, some people walked to the mountain, others sat in the park or chatted with their feet in the river. Wonderful connections formed and surprises arose as we met old friends.

After that gathering, we met a couple of times at Mescladís when we organized events for our community in Barcelona, and I was surprised by his extensive knowledge of fashion and fabrics. I told him about the European project, and he immediately joined to collaborate on it.

I think I met Carol Blázquez at the first Acumen ceremony back in 2020. She was selected right away; I had to wait another year to be chosen. Carol leads sustainability at Ecoalf and is immersed in amazing upcycling, recycling, and new material projects. In Spain, she is a reference, as is the company she represents, certified as a Bcorp in the top 5 of the best for the world, with significant growth in recent years. When we launched The Social MBA, I invited her to collaborate, and we organized a LAB together. Since then, we’ve crossed paths at impact ecosystem events, and when this project came up, I didn’t hesitate to reach out to her again.

BECAUSE THERE IS NO PLANET B

So we started, and everything has gone smoothly. Right now, we have a European entrepreneur with extensive experience in filming; Emilia helped us with a couple of cameras to capture various angles, setting up different sets or backdrops, ensuring good sound quality, using a prompter for scripts, and even correcting pronunciation since most of the content was in English, and we Spaniards tend to make mistakes.

The experience has been very special, but above all, sharing a few days with these friends at PAS. From going biking with our daughter by the river to picking mandarins and oranges before they went bad. Walking around the village and hiking up to the Piedrona to share coffee at any time. Extending after-lunch conversations to meditate for an hour and answer deep questions. Without a doubt, a gift for us, to receive simple and authentic people who inspire us to consume and dress differently.

Now comes the editing phase, and Eukene will help us finish it. It’s incredible how these people arrived at the perfect moment. I’m sure in the end, it will be a great training program aimed at helping change the consumption habits of those over 55. The audiovisual content is combined with classes and practical workshops, where they will be taught the history of jeans or t-shirts and the 2,700 liters of water needed to make them (the amount of water a person drinks in two and a half years).

And you… Are you aware of the impact of your purchases?
